karen&bennett {summer engagements in a canoe}

When Karen first mentioned that she wanted to do her & Bennett's engagement photos on the river in a canoe, I jumped for joy, then panicked when I imagined myself & my gear falling into said river. We acknowledged that that could happen, but were both too excited for the challenge, so we set to work planning it out. Karen found a great little section of Barton Creek that was beautiful. 

We started off on the paths for some more traditional portraits. I know we annoyed a few joggers & bicyclists, but we didn't knock anyone over which is all that matters. :)

Karen & Bennett are getting married Fourth of July weekend, so wrapping up in her granddaddy's American flag made sense.

When we finally got in the canoe, things got real. We sobered up real quickly & realized all of those romantic canoe engagement photos on Pinterest aren't near as easy to capture as you may think. I honestly thought the canoe was going to be deeper, & it was a real ab workout to keep us as steady as we wanted to be. Once we got our rhythm figured out, it got a little bit easier, & I think the whole thing was a great success.
